What a couples retreat actually involves
The Z4L protocol takes the healing week and rebuilds it for two. Less about talking through problems, more about going through something together.
The couples retreat runs seven days, Monday to Monday, and it is built on the same Z4 Protocol as the healing weeks — adapted, and renamed Z4L, because what it is aimed at is different.
It is not couples therapy. Nobody sits in facing chairs describing their childhood. It is a week of sustained shared effort, which turns out to do something that talking often cannot.
Who comes
Two kinds of couple, and they arrive with very different expectations.
The first have hit a crossroads. Something has gone — the contact, the grip, the ease. Often neither person can say precisely when, which is part of the problem.
The second are fine, and want considerably better than fine. These are frequently the more dramatic weeks, because there is nothing to repair and all the energy goes into building.
How the protocol changes for two
The four tracks stay. What changes is that almost everything is done together.
Nutrition. The same juicing regime, with slightly more solid food than the healing weeks — light breakfast, lunch and early dinner, all plant-based and all shared.
Physical. The exercises are adapted to be performed in pairs, which sounds cosmetic and is not. Paired stretching requires reading the other person’s resistance continuously and adjusting to it. Couples who have not physically coordinated on anything in years find this exposing on day one and easy by day four. Every other day there is an hour of easy cardiovascular work outdoors.
Mental. The breathing work here is aimed at increasing awareness of your own body and of your partner’s — bodies become more fluid and more sensitive over the week, which is the point.
Energy. Bioenergy therapy runs as it does in every programme, and the aura balancing is done as a pair.
What actually shifts it
Our honest observation after many of these weeks: what changes a relationship is rarely the conversation. It is doing something demanding together, under supervision, with no phones and nowhere else to be — and discovering that the other person is still someone you want beside you when it is difficult.
The week is designed to produce that condition repeatedly and let it do its work.
Denis and Martyna run these programmes together, which is not incidental. They teach bioenergy healing together and have worked through the same material themselves.
Practicalities
Seven nights, private accommodation, both partners on the full protocol. Dates and prices are on the programmes page under Z4L. As with every programme, we ask both of you to complete the application questionnaire separately — the answers are usually more different than either expects, and that itself is useful.
